Bring Your Story to the People Making Decisions.

Turn lived experience into a voice for change. This space makes it easier to bring the realities of chronic illness and disability directly to the elected leaders shaping the policies that affect our lives.

Your experience is evidence.

Your lived experience can show how policies work beyond the page. Sharing how an issue has affected your life gives elected leaders insight into the barriers their constituents face and brings patient perspectives into conversations where they may otherwise be missing.

"Personal stories put a human face on policy issues and help decision-makers understand what's at stake."

POLICY AVENUES

PRIOR AUTHORIZATION
Prior authorization can stand between patients and prescribed care. 95% of physicians report it delays necessary treatment. The Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act aims to streamline the process for Medicare Advantage patients and reduce unnecessary delays.
FUND SPECIAL EDUCATION
Federal support for special education has remained below the level envisioned under IDEA. The IDEA Full Funding Act would establish increases in federal funding for services supporting students with disabilities, with the legislation structured to reach the 40% benchmark.
REFORM STEP THERAPY
“Fail first” policies require patients to try insurer-preferred treatments before accessing the medication their provider recommends. The Safe Step Act would establish a clearer process for patients covered by affected health plans when step therapy creates an inappropriate barrier to treatment.
